Dallas Center Expansion

Fiber Internet is Coming
to Dallas Center

We’ve heard from residents and businesses who have been asking for Minburn Communications fiber, and we’re excited to deliver it. Learn about our Dallas Center expansion, construction process, timeline, and how to get connected.

Construction Phases

We’re building Dallas Center in phases so we can move from construction to customer installations as quickly as possible. Construction for the phases below will begin in Spring 2027.

Much of the underground conduit is already in place in these areas. That means we can move directly to installing fiber, splicing connections and preparing homes and businesses for service.

If you don’t see your neighborhood in the first three phases, we’re not forgetting about you. Additional phases are planned for future years as we continue expanding our network throughout Dallas Center.

Why You'll Love our Fiber Internet

Symmetrical Speeds

We’re the only local service provider that offers symmetrical speeds at no additional charge. This means your upload speed is the same as your download speed, preventing delays and improving your overall internet experience.

Low Cost per Mbps

Minburn Communications consistently gives our customers the best value on our services. With faster speeds and a lower cost per Mbps, we continue to surpass our competition.

Reliable Connection

Our 100% fiber-to-the-home network is also 100% underground, protected from the elements, ensuring consistent and dependable service in any weather. Unlike other types of internet, fiber isn’t affected by bad weather or long distances.

What to expect during the fiber construction process

To get started, we need two documents:

  • Drop Permit: Gives us permission to install fiber from the mainline to your home.
  • Service Agreement: Tells us which products and services you want.

Call or email us, and we’ll send you the documents. Before sending them, we’ll talk with you to collect the information we need and prefill the paperwork.

Once we receive your completed Drop Permit, we’ll contact you to schedule a site survey.

One of our technicians will meet you at your property to look at existing utilities and private lines. We’ll also determine the best route for the Fiber and the best location for your ONT. The ONT is the equipment that connects your home to our Fiber network.

Before construction begins, utility companies will mark the locations of their underground lines with temporary, water-based paint or flags.

Construction crews will then install the main fiber network along the planned routes. Depending on the area, they may use small excavators, plows, or directional-boring equipment to install the fiber underground.

Utilities will be located and marked before work begins.

Crews will then install the fiber from the mainline to your home. The fiber will be buried underground using small yard plows and, when needed, directional-boring equipment.

Our splicing teams will open each underground vault and connect the fiber lines that will eventually bring service directly to your premise. Each fiber connection will then be tested to make sure it is working properly.

At this step, a Minburn Communications representative will call you to schedule installation. A technician will come out to your home to install an ONT which includes a protector box on the exterior of your home and an additional device for the interior. They will also hook up your TV, phone, and Protect WiFi Router services, if desired, and then connect your devices to the network.

Questions?

Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027. Construction and customer installations will happen in phases. Your installation timing will depend on the phase and location of your home or business.

Construction timelines can vary based on a number of factors, but we work as quickly, efficiently and safely as we can to bring you fiber.

Here are some reasons for delays:

  • Weather: A wet and muddy environment limits access to ditches, hinders the movement of heavy machinery, and poses risks to worker safety.
  • Labor Shortages: A shortage of skilled labor and finding qualified drop contractors.
  • Coordination with Other Utilities: Coordinating with other utility providers to avoid conflicts with existing infrastructure, such as water, gas, and electricity lines, can be complex and time-consuming.

Our goal is to treat your property as if it were our own. After the connection is secured, we will restore your yard to a condition as close to the original as possible. Contractors will likely disturb about an 18” wide section from the road to your premise. Once complete, they will level out and reseed the area. If you have concerns about the work planned, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Yes, a box called an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) will be mounted on the exterior of your home. This box is where we splice and ground our fiber optic connection to the electronics that convert the fiber’s signal of light into usable internet and other communications services. There will also be a power supply device installed inside your home or business. Our Technician will work with you to identify the best location for the equipment to be placed.

Absolutely. A house is generally worth more if it has access to amenities such as public streets, city water and sanitary services, and other utilities such as a reliable internet connection.
