PERRY, IA – May 19 2025 – Rural Perry customers are now starting to see visible signs of the new fiber internet network that Minburn Communications is bringing to them. Planning and permitting, which have been underway for some time, are now giving way to utility location flags and markings, as well as the arrival of construction equipment from Minburn Communications’ construction partner, Precision Underground.
Rural Perry is part of a multi-year fiber expansion plan, partially funded by an award from the State of Iowa’s Empower Rural Iowa Broadband Grant Program. This project delivers ultra-fast, reliable internet to customers who lack strong broadband (internet) access. Construction has been ongoing in Adel, Dallas Center, and Waukee, and now Perry joins the list of communities benefiting from this project. A map of the entire construction project accompanies this story.
Construction activities are actively underway in rural Perry, with crews currently locating underground utilities and securing the necessary permits. Mainline fiber construction is happening now, and residents are beginning to see plow crews, directional boring equipment, and utility work throughout the area.
“Now is the time to get signed up,” said Douglas Pals, CEO and General Manager of Minburn Communications. “In just a few weeks, over 100 residents have already signed up, and we know there’s a lot of excitement about getting the fiber internet they deserve. We can be so much more efficient with our construction when we know who needs service, and it benefits customers because we can get people connected more quickly.”
Pals added that customers can visit the company’s website to learn more, sign up for service, or get contact information to call or email with questions.
“It’s possible, if we have good weather this construction season, that we might be able to connect some customers to the fiber network this fall. Most will be installed starting in the spring and summer of 2026,” stated Pals. “Fiber construction does take some time, but it pays benefits to customers for decades to come…and is worth the wait!”
Minburn Communications encourages residents and businesses in the service area to sign up now to ensure timely installation as service becomes available. Fiber internet from Minburn Communications offers a major upgrade for rural customers – delivering nearly unlimited bandwidth and reliability, which, in turn, provides a better internet experience for streaming, video calls, online classes, remote work, gaming, and more.
